Event Details

The Forum will bring together leading Democratic presidential contenders to discuss their ideas for solving the range of economic and social challenges facing rural and small town communities in Iowa and beyond. The event will be moderated by Pulitzer Prize-winning Storm Lake Times columnist and editor Art Cullen and hosted by Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa. The “Heartland Forum,” held in the first-in-the-nation caucus state responsible for propelling candidates from Jimmy Carter to Barack Obama to the Presidency, will provide a unique opportunity to present a vision and policy agenda to reverse rural and small-town America’s declining living conditions. From agricultural consolidation and the collapse of manufacturing to the disappearance of local journalism, the Forum seeks to surface new, high-impact ideas for revitalizing America’s heartland communities.

Prior to the Heartland Forum, we will be attending the Farmer Bill of Rights Rally, organized by Family Farm Action.
