Description
The Wisconsin Farmers Union (WFU) Sauk & Columbia County Chapters invites members and guests to a special day of connection and conservation on Saturday, September 6, from 10 am to 3:30 pm at the Aldo Leopold Foundation in Baraboo, WI (E13701 Levee Rd).
The chapters’ annual meetings will kick off at 11:30am, followed by a guided tour of the Aldo Leopold Shack. The event will also include a women’s-only prairie seed collection in the morning before the annual meetings from 10-11:30am.
Registration is required for each portion of this event.
- Please register by August 27th, so that we can account for food and tour guide needs.
- All sections of the event are free to attend.
Event Schedule:
- 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM - Women’s-Only Prairie Seed Collection, in partnership with Wisconsin Women in Conservation, Start the day with a hands-on conservation activity led by fellows from the Aldo Leopold Foundation. This session offers women a chance to connect with the land and with each other through meaningful environmental stewardship. You will learn how to identify plants and properly collect prairie seeds from some of the Aldo Leopold Foundation prairies- with an opportunity to take some seeds home.
- 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM - WFU Sauk & Columbia Chapters’ Annual Meetings. All are welcome to join the chapters’ annual meeting. Enjoy a catered entrée from The Relish Tray Bistro, featuring Bula’s Pleasant Valley Farm meat and produce—please bring a side dish or dessert to share.

- 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM - Guided tour of Aldo Leopold’s Shack. End the day with a guided tour of the historic Aldo Leopold Shack, led by knowledgeable staff from the Aldo Leopold Foundation. Learn more about Leopold’s legacy and how his land ethic continues to inspire generations of conservationists.
**Accessibility**
- The prairie seed collection and guided tour of Aldo Leopold's Shack will require walking and will take place on grass mowed walkways with some uneven and sandy soil. The only part of the Aldo Leopold Center that is ADA accessible is the visitor center.

- You will be in areas that have ticks and mosquitoes, so we encourage you to wear long pants and sleeves, and closed-toed shoes.
- Bring sunscreen, bug repellant, and a water bottle!
