Big farms are getting bigger. Enforcement of federal anti-consolidation laws has slackened in recent years leading to more mergers and acquisitions of large scale agricultural producers, suppliers, and processors. The agriculture industry is becoming increasingly consolidated to the detriment of farmers and our climate. But an alternative future is possible. By ensuring there are more small and mid-sized farms on our landscape and that local food infrastructure exists from farm to fork, we can build a resilient local food system that serves our state. Attend this webinar to hear from Wisconsin Farmers Union staff members, Erin Lenninger (NE WI Conservation Coordinator), and Erin Thompson (Policy Analyst) and learn more about the connection between corporate consolidation, climate change, and local food systems.
