2018 Women Caring for the Land - Long Winter Farm

Thursday, September 27, 2018 (8:30 AM - 3:00 PM) (CDT)

Description

Come learn more about conservation practices and network with other farm women in your region! Rachel Anderson's mission is to farm efficiently, sustainably, and profitably at low environmental impact. Her family's 1500-acre farm utilizes no-till, strip-till, GNSS-based application, advanced cover crop systems, and water quality monitoring. Additionally, they maintain refuge for wildlife through wetland, prairie, and oak savanna restorations. Rachel and her mother are starting a new farming adventure with a brand-new cut-flower business.

Women Caring for the Land was designed by the Women Food & Ag Network to serve women farmland landowners who are interested in learning more about conservation.  Research has shown women value women-only meetings with their peers.  These events provide women landowners and farmers the opportunity to network with their peers and learn from resource professionals. For these reasons, we do request that the morning portion be women only.  We do recognize though that men are also interested in learning more about conservation opportunities, therefore they are welcome to join for the potluck lunch and farm tour at noon.

Potluck Lunch (Bring a dish to pass!) Registration & coffee networking begin at 8:30AM
