Event Details

We were looking forward to gathering together at the Dairyland Forum on March 29th in Menomonie for a great day of local food, music, and hearing from presidential candidates about their platforms on monopoly power, family farms, and the key issues impacting rural America.

Unfortunately, due to growing concerns over the Coronavirus and the potential for it to spread at large gatherings, we have decided to cancel the event. This decision comes after much thought and at the advisement of local health officials.

However, Wisconsin Farmers Union will continue to actively elevate rural issues as the months progress toward the election. If you're interested in being a part of this effort, please let us know. We especially are seeking farmers or other advocates who are comfortable speaking about rural issues with media or hosting reporters and/or candidates at their farm or business. To be added to our media speaker bureau, please contact Tommy Enright at tenright@wisconsinfarmersunion.comor 715-563-2169.

"Due to increasing concerns around the spread of the Coronavirus, we could not move forward on this event in good conscience," said WFU Executive Director Julie Keown-Bomar. "We do look forward to hosting other rural issue forums later this year and anticipate offering many other opportunities to lift up rural voices and educate leading up to the election."

This spring, the national spotlight will turn to Wisconsin. Join Wisconsin Farmers Union in using this opportunity to elevate the issues that matter to our family farmers and rural America at the Dairyland Forum, a presidential candidate forum and party happening Sunday, March 29th at the Dunn County Fairgrounds. This event will provide an opportunity for presidential candidates to engage Wisconsin’s rural voters on the topics that matter to them: the need to address corporate power in food systems and political life and to create a fair economic democracy that serves all people. Candidates will be asked questions about the the following: - Corporate dominance in agriculture highlighting pork, beef, beer and, cheese - Their plan for preventing further loss of family farms and decline of rural and tribal food systems - How candidates’ rural and agriculture policies address issues like education, roads and transportation, access to health care and capital to address growing mental health and addiction issues in our rural communities - A vision a fair and just rural economy that helps all people thrive Stay after the forum & rally for live music and a celebration of Wisconsin's local fare, including local craft beers, cheese, brats and more.
